I was reminded of the story of two builders recently – let me introduce it to you or refresh your memory.
One day a traveller, walking along a lane, came across a couple of stonecutters working in a quarry, each of them busy cutting a block of stone. Interested to find out what they were working on, the traveller asked the first stonecutter what he was doing. "I’m cutting a stone!". The traveller turned to the other stonecutter. He seemed to be the happier of the two and when asked what he was doing, he replied: “I’m building a temple.”
There are several versions of the story, and I suppose a number of ways to interpret its meaning and application. It’s to do with perceptions affecting attitudes:
- Some see the basic routine – ‘My hammer lets me shape stones’, while others lift their heads and realise they are part of something far grander.
- You can be incredibly simplistic in outlook, or be aware that you are just looking at what is one very small part of something great.
As I was thinking about it I reckoned that a choice had been made by these stone cutters…
So why was this in my mind - what’s the point here?
Recently, I was giving a demo of the Spoonfed site and the general response could be paraphrased as, ‘So we will be able to order food online’, or ‘Menus will be online for customers to view’. Now, rather like the stone carvers these comments are true – (After all, remember the workers were accurate in what they said) but this ‘take’ about what Spoonfed can accomplish was frustratingly stuck in the ‘I’m a rock buster’ world.
Meanwhile, the solutions and features and business use-cases are waving frantically saying, lift your head, see the bigger picture and see the potential for managing catering. Whether it is for those who have to regularly place orders for hospitality, or those managing budgets wanting control on the who, what, why and how much did it cost?…or if it is the kitchen team processing the orders, Spoonfed is inviting each of them to see that there is a world of solutions at hand.
The continuous commitment to developments to the Spoonfed system have seen us opening up more and more opportunities for catering teams to extend their reach, do more, and do it more easily.
If I was to add another metaphor – you could say, that owning a Rolls Royce would let you sit in a comfy seat and listen to the radio…well yes, but here there is far more available to you. Spoonfed is used globally by the largest contract caterers in the world for a reason – they want the best in class when it comes to providing the key solutions for managing delivered catering – end to end control, with a frictionless ordering experience no matter the complexity of the order…and the tools to take up more opportunities and build something great. And they also recognise that the pressures and issues of hybrid working patterns, staff shortages, and food costs can be faced with confidence with the right tech solutions in place.
Enjoy being part of something bigger. Discover what Spoonfed can do for your business – ask for a demo today.
